Today marks exactly 4 months until the big day. It’s as if a switch went off in my mind because all of a sudden the smaller details seem to be creeping in. Relatives calling to ask about flights, airports, things to do in the LA area. Rehearsal dinner location. Invitations!
In my industry (that would be PR), the venue will often determine the success (or failure!) of your event. So, it’s no surprise that when it came time to find the perfect place for my own grand shindig—the pressure was on!
In a city like Los Angeles, it really is about location, location, location. How long will it take guests to get to the site (actual time vs. traffic time)? Will the out-of-towners be able to find their way from LAX? And PARKING!! But it’s not just about the logistics either. It’s about choosing the most beautiful, picturesque location…one that makes it an event worth traveling to for everyone invited—and one my hubby-to-be and I will always remember.
After only subjecting Mr. Right to a few “site checks,” we luckily ended up going with the first place we saw—I have to say, I am officially in love (again!). Our choice? The Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA. This amazing spot has a boutique-y, Latin-inspired flair (only fitting, since my new last name will soon be that of my Latin lover’s). Located right on the waterfront, we knew the outdoor area would be just breathtaking for the ceremony. Any of you out there looking to get married in Southern California should really check this place out!
